From Salvaged Car to Reception Desk

Completed project: Mercedes desk installed (thumbnail), Keys Communications: Benz Desk.

Some projects start with a mood board. This one started with a rusted bonnet.

The idea was to bring the outside in by turning classic car parts into working office furniture. The source material was a donor Mercedes, with a bonnet, front panels and headlamps salvaged for reuse.

Reshaping the panels

In the workshop, the body panels were stripped, primed and reshaped into the desk form. The grille and lamp housings were fitted to the front, so the piece kept its character as a car while becoming something new.

Making it work as furniture

A desk still has to function. A timber desktop was added behind the panels, giving a real working surface that contrasts with the white bodywork.

Why it matters

The finished piece does what branded interiors should do. It gives people something to remember and talk about, and it says something about the business before anyone speaks.
